For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.

- Romans 6:4 NLT

The Greatest Baptism Story Ever

At the beginning of Acts, the disciples were praying and waiting, when they were filled by the Holy Spirit and empowered to go out and share the Gospel. They boldly went into the street and Peter preached the greatest message of his life. Over 3,000 people were saved and asked, “What shall we do?” And Peter replied, “repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ.

What Is Baptism?

Baptism is like a wedding ring: It’s the outward representation of the commitment you made in your heart to God and a physical picture of a spiritual reality. Baptism represents the death of our old self through the forgiveness of sins, and being born again into a new life, a new identity, and a new family in Christ. Baptism shows that you already believe, but doesn’t make you a believer. Baptism does not “save” you. Only Jesus saves you by grace through faith in Him.

Should I Get Baptized?

If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, then baptism is your next step. Looking back at the story found in Acts, the only prerequisite to baptism was a declaration of faith in Jesus.
